The End of an Icon

The Battersea Power Station, as seen from Vauxhall Bridge in August 2014. This is the last time you will see it, as about a week after this photo was taken work began to 'develop' it into a new residential/commercial place. Somehow the developers have permission to literally demolish the existing LISTED building a build a replica of it for their needs - which in my book kind of defeats the point of having listed buildings at all. I'm sure the new development will 'look' impressive, but every Londoner will lose their feeling of awe this iconic building holds whenever it comes into sight.

C'est dommage de détruire cette mémoire industrielle immortalisée par la célèbre pochette du disque ANIMALS DE PINK FLOYD. Une belle photo souvenir de ce bâtiment mythique à l'agonie.
It's a pity to destroy this industrial memory immortalized by the famous photo of the record PINK FLOYD ANIMALS. A very beautiful souvenir photo of this building in the agony.
